Fathers Unchained grew out of a real fight over due process, jurisdiction, court records, and continuing enforcement. My federal civil-rights action under 42 U.S.C. §1983 is more complicated than simply challenging a state-court decision. One of the major barriers is Rooker–Feldman. A favorable ruling that recognizes the distinction between attacking a state judgment and challenging an independent federal injury or ongoing unconstitutional enforcement could change the playing field for when federal constitutional claims can proceed.

But this mission is already bigger than one case. Fathers Unchained has educated fathers who have reported successful outcomes after learning how to read the record, identify the governing authority, document what is missing, and ask better questions. We do not give legal advice. We teach fathers how to understand the system and their own records.
